We will be focusing on two (2) things: 1) our civic academy campaign and its leading into accountability work in local legislative races, and 2) our money campaign to establish long-term fiscal sustainability and political independence.
To date, we have conducted 13 Civic Academies and house meetings leading toward Civic Academies. In total, 311 leaders have participated and 75% of them are new leaders who are interested in the work of Together Baton Rouge through their institutions. In other words, this means we have averaged 24 leaders per event. If we do 27 more meetings by mid-September, we will have introduced 1,000 leaders to our work through this Civic Academy campaign. Our plan is to engage with this new leadership base specifically this fall around meetings with candidates for the upcoming legislative races in Louisiana.
Finally, in order for Together Baton Rouge to maintain its independence, we must continue to cultivate a fundraising base that is not dependent on foundational grants. To this aim, our goal for 2019 is to raise $170,000 between a concerted fundraising campaign and in institutional membership dues. On Tuesday, we will give a report on dues and lay out the plans to complete the money campaign.
Lunch will be served and we ask you to make a $5 donation to cover the cost of the luncheon. To donate online, click here. Otherwise, you can make your donation in person.
