Together Baton Rouge is proposing the creation of a Health Equity District in the medically underserved areas of East Baton Rouge Parish. The district is designed to address the inequalities that exist in healthcare in our Parish. It will do this by increasing access to primary care physicians through clinic expansion, systemically address the social determinants of health, integrate behavioral and mental health into primary care settings, as well as create healthcare jobs and job training in the area. Many people in East Baton Rouge Parish are suffering due to lack of access to healthcare. COVID-19 has only reinforced the existing inequities that have been present in our community for a long time. Its time to take a stand and fight for change!
